When dining I am sometimes in the mood for a big meal and sometimes I go straight for the dessert. It's the same when I am selecting a book. I chose Paul Stam's The Long Squeeze for a light, fast-moving read...and I got exactly what I wanted. Mr. Stam is an excellent story-teller, combining several story lines, geographically and chronologically unrelated, and weaving them together with a common thread by the name of Nick Sanders. Sanders is the author''s witty, wise-cracking protagonist. The conversational style of Stam's writing allows one to 'hear' Nick Sanders speak; always the mark of a good writer.The promised tale tantalizes: greed, retribution, revenge, its got all the ingredients for a great story (or a typical family reunion). And lets face it, bad guys of the secretive world of private security using bad guys of the secretive world of Wall Street to "hedge their bet" is something we all suspect is a daily occurrence but know nothing about. If only I had been an early investor....
Do yourself a favor and read The Long Squeeze. Life is short. Go for the dessert.

Fast read. Friendly characters, some from Paul's "The Trust Company" so familiarity from page 1. Adventure on every page.
Awesome read ... up till 3 AM reading the last 50 pages because I literally could not put it down. Plot is totally believable and the characters well thought out. Can't wait for Mr. Stam's next Nick Sanders thriller !
Found it easy to read and held my interest...enjoyed it and will read more books he has written
Good storyline
Interesting plot of international financial intrigue. I thought the book could have been better with some additional character development, maybe with additional back story. Paul works more than full time for his clients at Morgan Stanley and somehow manages to write his second published novel, so hat's off to him.
An amazing 2nd book for Paul Stam...... His first book, The Trust Company was excellent as well. The factual details he provides are extraordinary...... Great job Paul. I look forward the the next Nick Sanders Thriller.... Keep writing!!!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed Trust Company and looked forward to more Nick Sanders- this was an excellent read with good character development and page-turning storyline with a few good twists to finish. Stam has a solid financial background and it made some of the details more enjoyable. A few too many stereotypes and difficult leaps of faith to give it 5 stars bit nonetheless worth the read.
I really, really enjoyed the author's first book - The Trust Company. The character development was excellent, with great backstories and complexity beyond just straight good and evil. The plot had the great twists and turns that also make for an excellent read. No surprise, then, that I was very much looking forward to the next book from Mr. Stam. He uses the same recipe on a brand new story, and I once again found myself unable to put the book down. A great read.
